About the role

As a member of the Global Commercial Team, the Senior Quantitative Analyst will be responsible for improving analytics and modelling in support of the sale of power from assets under development. The Global Commercial Team carries out quantitative modelling in support of business development and commercial negotiations for power sales, and negotiation of other contracts required for the construction of solar and battery assets.
The role focusses on statistical analysis, modeling capabilities, hedging strategies and valuations of physical assets or contractual terms across multiple markets worldwide. The role will be part of the wider Project Finance Team within which the Global Commercial Team is located, and work in close collaboration with several functions including commercial managers, other analysts within the Commercial Team, as well as business development, engineering, and other functions as needed. The Senior Quantitative Analyst will act as a focal point for commercial modelling across the company. The Analyst will understand the end-to-end process flow of a power sale transactions, and, through deep knowledge of the power markets/business be part of a team to transact on structured products across the power spectrum.

Your tasks will include:
\- Build models for pricing of power offtake agreements and evaluation of power offtake and aid in automating transaction processes (Offtake, Business Development and Origination), but with a lens across the entire value creation process of projects
\- Lead the work for modelling and other digital solutions for hedging strategies (initially long term, but increasingly shorter dated positions/markets)
\- Be able to provide high quality understanding of market opportunities and deliver data analysis in support of commercial negotiations for short and long-term power offtake and battery agreements, as well as multiple types of hedges across multiple countries of operation
\- Streamline and enhance the product array and functionality of the commercial team, including investment decision making and management of asset optimization by utilizing forecasting, monitoring, accessibility featuring, etc.
\- Work as a driver for new and innovative solutions for the team, as well as how to translate these into standardized processes for Portfolio Management and Business Development to operate
\- Partner with other departments including IT, project finance, portfolio management and business development to select and implement (full lifecycle; scope, design, build test & deploy) new software solutions and enhancements to existing solutions in readiness for new value propositions or enter new markets.

The preferred candidate has professional experience in quantitative analysis of energy market data as well as software programming. The preferred candidate has previous experience working in a power trading entity.

Your Profile:
\- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, or Mathematics; Master’s degree a plus
\- Knowledge of energy markets and products, trading instruments including swaps, options, and futures
\- Seven to ten years experience in a similar position in a power trading house, commodity trading firm, utility, consulting or solar PV developer
\- Financial & analytical capabilities in pricing and risk management
\- Strong coding background with work experience in using Matlab, R, Python and other programming languages beneficial
\- Ability to explain complex ideas in a cohesive and concise manner
\- Ability to effectively interface with multiple roles and build relationships both internally and externally within the organization and with clients
\- Strong commercial and proactive mindset with the ability to take initiative across multiple tasks
\- Knowledge of financial modeling and solar PV engineering desirable
\- Intercultural competence and team-player
\- Languages: English (native speaker or excellent command), additional languages welcome
